Did you know? North Lincs has an ancient turf maze. Satnav still gets lost there

Did you know? Alkborough is home to Julian's Bower, an ancient maze cut into the turf. It's the only surviving turf maze of that name in England.
Others once existed at places like Horncastle and Louth, but ours is the one that's still here. Winning. It has been called other names over the years, including "Gillian's Bore" and "Gilling Bore".
The name is believed to come from Julus, son of Aeneas of Troy. Many old British mazes were called "Troy Town" or "The Walls of Troy", after the legend that Troy's walls were so confusing no enemy could find their way out. Alkborough itself sits at the northern end of The Cliff, overlooking Trent Falls, where the Trent and the Ouse meet.
SRN Verdict
Lovely view. Ancient maze. Honestly, it's the most North Lincolnshire tourist attraction possible.
