Iron lose 3-2 to Woking in a storm. The weather wasn't the only thing blowing
Facebook
XScunthorpe United lost 3-2 at home to Woking on Saturday, in the full force of Storm Boelo. Football in a wind tunnel. Lovely.
Fresh from the 3-1 FA Cup win at Boston, the Iron started brightly. Then a stray back pass let Aiden O'Brien in, and Woking led inside ten minutes. John Marquis made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 23 minutes.
O'Brien got his second after the break. 3-0. Grim.
Then it got lively. Woking's Rico Browne was sent off for a headbutt on Will Evans. James Norwood's penalty was saved, but he poked in the rebound moments later.
Sub Luke Brennan curled in a cracking free kick on 84 minutes to make it 3-2. Ten minutes of added time. No equaliser.
SRN Verdict
Next up: Tamworth away on Tuesday night, then Boston on Saturday. Chins up, Iron.
